Sign-in codes
When a login or verification code arrives, Bottle Mail puts it right in the notification, with a Copy code button.
Windows appHow it works
- Bottle Mail looks for a code next to words like “verification code” or “OTP” in new mail. It skips numbers that look like order numbers, phone numbers, prices or dates. This happens on your PC, never with AI, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- A code gets a notification of its own, with the code first.
- Select Copy code, or the notification itself, to copy the code. The message opens too.
- A minute after you copy it, the code is cleared from your clipboard. If you have copied something else in the meantime, that is left alone.
- While Bottle Mail is locked, the notification only says “New sign-in code”. Unlock the app to see the code.
- When you open the message, the code also appears at the top as a small pill: “Code 482913 · Copy”. Select Copy and it says “Code copied”.
Use a code
- When the notification appears, select Copy code.
- Go back to the site or app that asked for it and paste the code.
- Do it within a minute, before the code leaves your clipboard. If you miss it, open the message and select Copy again.
Change the settings
- Open Settings, then Notifications.
- Turn Show sign-in codes in notifications off if you do not want codes shown. This also hides the code pill in open messages.
- Turn Clear a copied code from the clipboard after a minute off if you want codes to stay on the clipboard.
Questions
A code email came in, but no code was shown.
Bottle Mail is careful: showing a wrong number is worse than showing none, so it skips anything it is not sure about. Open the message to read the code.
Does anyone else see my codes?
No. Codes are found on your PC and are never sent to us or anyone else.
